About
Sacred Hoop is a visceral and poetic documentary that follows Lakota youth during the annual 500 mile Sacred Hoop Run around the Black Hills of South Dakota. Shot throughout the sacred sites of their ancestral homelands, the film highlights the run as a metaphor for how the young people endure the incredible challenges they face growing up in the extreme poverty of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
Sacred Hoop is a collaborative project created for The Mitakuye Foundation which has sponsored the Sacred Hoop Run since 2012. The film is currently in post-production.
